Like you, we hope your pet will remain in good health for the duration of their stay here at Hanmer Pet Retreat. However, should your pet fall ill, you can rest assured that veterinary treatment will be available.
If your pet does require any attention from a vet whilst they are in our care, we will notify you or the person you have nominated as your pet’s emergency contact as soon as is possible. If there is even the slightest chance you think your emergency nominee may be hard to reach, feel free to give us as many contact numbers as you want.
In all cases, we will take your pet to our local veterinary practice, North Canterbury Vet in Culverden. We have always received excellent service from caring and experienced staff.
If your pet comes to us with a pre-existing condition, we will do our best to take them to your own vet for follow on treatment as long as your vet is local to us. If they are not, we will take your pet to the vets mentioned above and ask your vet to send us the history of treatment for your pet.
Out of hours emergencies: As Hanmer Pet Retreat is a family run business, there is a presence onsite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Should there be any emergencies or animals requiring veterinary attention out of normal business hours (both for us and our vets), we will do our absolute best to get your pet the attention they need as swiftly as possible.
Charges: In all cases the vet fees will be payable by the owner. We will not be held liable for existing problems or injuries and illnesses caused by the behaviour of your pet whilst in our care. We also cannot be held responsible if your dog contracts the kennel cough virus as this is out of our control – although we take every precaution to ensure no dog in our care enters the kennels with this virus.
There will also be a transportation fee to the vet. All charges must be paid for in full before your pet will be released on departure day.
